Are The Holiday's Really Almost Over?

GIRLS! How was your Christmas? I hope and pray that is was filled with so much love, and of course, no holiday is complete unless much laughter is involved, too.

So, I am very curious as to what you all did for Christmas this year, and what you got. So, why don't you leave a comment (and don't forget to add your name if you are posting as an anonymous blogger) and tell me your favorite gift this year. Girls, this is no contest, and it doesn't have to be something big at all, just tell me your favorite gift you received.

For instance, I got 3 pairs of socks in my stocking that I absolutely love. They are long socks that I can wear with my boots, which thrills my little heart because I didn't have any. Yes, I did get some other fun things, but I loved my socks.

So, spill the beans, what did you get?

Well girls, I am back at work, so I better concentrate, but I just wanted to pop in and say hello.

Be looking for a post real soon about something I would love for all of us to do this coming year. It is something I am personally going to do, and I would love for y'all to join me in the journey! Want to know what it is? Well, be sure to come back within the next few days.

Love you girls dearly and hope you all have a wonderful week off of school. Let's go see a movie! Any takers? :)

Christmas Traditions

Hello, sweet girls! Well, I am hoping that by the time you read this, you will be DONE with school! I am so happy for y'all and know you are so ready for a break. It has been a crazy semester, hasn't it?!

I just wanted to pop in here for a second and see what kind of traditions you and your family might have at Christmas time?

I would tell you some of mine, however, I can't really think of one particular thing we do every year.

Normally though, if we are in Houston, we go to the Christmas Eve service here at church and then just chill out at home afterwards. Also, if we are in Houston, we celebrate Christmas day with some of our good friends. It is always a wonderful time.

When we go to Colorado for Christmas (which is every few years!) we have a completely different schedule. We are always hopping from house to house to see everybody.

So, what are some of your traditions? Let's hear them!

And if I don't get back on here, or see you before Christmas, I hope that you have a very, Merry Christmas! I love you, sisters!

A Christmas Survey

Hello, precious girls! I saw this survey on another blog and thought it was really fun, so I thought I would post my answers on this blog! I absolutely LOVE Christmas. It is by far my favorite holiday. (Next runner up is Thanksgiving!) So, I thought it would be fun for us to share a little bit about our Christmas's. Feel free to leave your answers in a comment. I would LOVE to hear them!

1. Fresh Tree or Fake Tree
Fake (As much as I love the smell of a fresh one, I am completely allergic…as is the rest of the fam!)

2. Favorite Ornament
I have 2. For some reason I am completely enamored with this gumball ornament we’ve had since I was little, nothing special about it, I just like it. Then we have this Santa you press and it sings to you. Always a joy!

3. Favorite Christmas Song
"Jesus Born on This Day" (Either by Mariah Carey or Avalon) , “Ring the Bells” by Travis Cottrell, “All I Want for Christmas” by Mariah Carey

4. Favorite Tradition
Driving around looking at lights (Especially in Prestonwood!), all while enjoying some Amy Grant or Mariah Carey Christmas in the CD player, and sipping on some Hot Chocolate. This is especially fun when I’m with my girlfriends.

5. Favorite Gift Ever Received
When Rollerblades first came out, both my brother and I really wanted some. However, they were quite pricey so my parents told us to not expect them because it was out of the budget. So, Christmas morning we were completely surprised when there was rollerblades for each of us sitting by our stocking. Needless to say, we rollerbladed the rest of the day!

6. Favorite Christmas Meal
Turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, fruit salad, rolls, cheese ball and crackers and a chocolate pie to finish it off.

7. Favorite Christmas Cookie
Pillsbury sugar cookies you can decorate on your own! They are so soft!

8. Favorite Place To Be
Colorado with the rest of our extended family!

9. Favorite Memory
The Christmas Eve that it snowed in Houston is pretty high up there, however, last Christmas in Colorado it snowed ALL day. It was indeed a very white Christmas, and the only day it snowed the whole time we were there!

10. Favorite Christmas Movie
My top 3 favorites are: “Elf”, “Christmas Vacation” and “A Christmas Story” H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S!

So, what about you? Merry "Early" Christmas!

A Message from John Krasinski

Also known as Jim Halpert from The Office.

On our flight home from Mexico on Tuesday, my reading material consisted of People Magazine.

I came across a mini article on John (we're totally on a first name basis) and my excitement about the magazine and this actor rose to a new level.

They were asking him simple questions and when asked about his home town, this is what he said.

"I miss the East Coast," says the Massachusetts native. "When the girls are bundled up, it's extremely se*y."

WHEN THEY ARE BUNDLED UP! Not when they're in skimpy swim suits or about to loose all of their business out of a shirt, but when they are bundled up.

I'm not to sure how many of you are smitten over him, but I am. I mean, really y'all, to hear that Jim from the office thinks that a girl is more attractive bundled up, means a lot. Most men, especially in the Hollywood business, would never say that.

Girls, you and I can totally learn from this. Most times we think that the only to get a guy is to dress immodestly, I beg to differ. If we want a boy that respects us and treats us how we should be treated, than we don't want the ones that want us for our body. That is totally a trap! And, if we do dress like that, we aren't doing our brothers in Christ a favor, we are only making them stumble and sin.
If you feel the tug on your heart, or your palms are sweating because you've fallen into this trap, I would do a heart check! I've had to do a heart check a few times myself because I so used to be the one to wear short shorts and spaghetti straps and thought all was well. Little did I know (however, consciously I did know), I wasn't doing anyone a favor.

I just pray that we have young godly men who rise up and think the same thing and that the young godly girls would listen and heed the wise advice and wait for a man that respects them and their bodies.

So, as if we didn't love Jim enough, don't you think he's just precious?! I do.

Do you want to be attractive? Then bundle up, sweet girls! ;)
Love,
Lindsee

I Haven't Forgotten About You

Hey sweet girls!

Wow, I can't believe that retreat is 0-v-e-r! I feel like the weekend flew by! How about you?

Clearly, you can see that I have been the worst blog administrator ever the past month, but the retreat planning took precedence over the blog. Which is completely sad, but true.

One of our ladies took pictures the whole time during the retreat and is going to get me a CD of them soon, so, once I get those my plan is to put them on the blog for all to see!

However, while we are waiting, I want to hear from YOU!

Tell me what your favorite part about the retreat was! Did you just love the Shelly and Abby? Would you want them to come back? How about the Q&A, did we answer your questions? Tell me about your small group times, did you think they were beneficial?

Girls, I am so excited to hear what you thought about the retreat. In my biased opinion, I think it went great...but I am more concerned what you thought!

So, check in and let me know!

Love you girls dearly! Hope you have had a fabulous, restful week!

(And hopefully I'll be back to blogging again!)

Commitment

So, who has been crazy busy out the wazoo?! That would be me...and probably you, too. Hence why the blog has been on hold for a while. But, alas, hopefully now I can really focus and start really using this thing, and hopefully, you will get in the routine to check it! :)

It is a commitment I made to you long ago, so I am going to keep it.

Speaking of commitments, I wanted to share something with y'all that I shared with my 2:42 group.

Girls, most of you are in a 2:42 group, and hopefully you have begun meeting. I know for some of you, you didn't even want to do a small group and your parents signed you up and now you are forced to do it, or maybe you are so busy that your brain can't stop 2 seconds to even think about 2:42, or maybe your group has changed the meeting time or day, and it seems like an inopportune time and you feel like not doing it this semester.

Here is my challenge, sweet friends, and I am so hoping you learn this lesson sooner than later, but know that 2:42 is a commitment that you made to your leader and to the Lord. I can P-R-O-M-I-S-E you that time spent in God's word is N-E-V-E-R time wasted. Ever. Ever. Ever. I know you may think you are waisting time and that you could be doing something more productive, but do you not realize that HIS WORD is EVERYTHING?! That HE is everything. That when you are solid in Him and His Word everything else falls into place. Sisters, he wants you to bring Him every worry, stress, fear, doubt and whatever else you may think is more important, or should take the place of him.

Take a look at Isaiah 55, out of The Message. His Word will NEVER return empty.

"Hey there! All who are thirsty, come to the water! Are you penniless? Come anyway—buy and eat! Come, buy your drinks, buy wine and milk. Buy without money—everything's free! Why do you spend your money on junk food, your hard-earned cash on cotton candy? Listen to me, listen well: Eat only the best, fill yourself with only the finest. Pay attention, come close now, listen carefully to my life-giving, life-nourishing words. I'm making a lasting covenant commitment with you, the same that I made with David: sure, solid, enduring love. I set him up as a witness to the nations, made him a prince and leader of the nations, And now I'm doing it to you: You'll summon nations you've never heard of, and nations who've never heard of you will come running to you Because of me, your God, because The Holy of Israel has honored you."

"Seek God while he's here to be found, pray to him while he's close at hand. Let the wicked abandon their way of life and the evil their way of thinking. Let them come back to God, who is merciful, come back to our God, who is lavish with forgiveness. "

"I don't think the way you think. The way you work isn't the way I work." God's Decree. "For as the sky soars high above earth, so the way I work surpasses the way you work, and the way I think is beyond the way you think. Just as rain and snow descend from the skies and don't go back until they've watered the earth, Doing their work of making things grow and blossom, producing seed for farmers and food for the hungry, So will the words that come out of my mouth not come back empty-handed. They'll do the work I sent them to do, they'll complete the assignment I gave them. " Isaiah 55: 1-11

Girls, did you see that? He is making a commitment with us. WITH US! I feel that it is so important that we make a commitment to HIM. And boy oh boy is HE MORE than worthy of our commitment. He's more worthy than anything else will EVER be. Even your future husband, which is so far away.

I do realize that you may not be able to attend every meeting, or do all your bible study homework. I do realize that you have made other commitments, also, that are very important to you and your family. I do realize that you will not live a perfectly committed life to Him here on earth, none of us will. But, please know that your commitment to church, to 2:42 will never be waisted. It will only be used for good.

So, I challenge you, when you feel like you have no more time left in the world and don't fell AT ALL like going to 2:42, or anything church related, that's all the more reason to GO! Satan wants you to think you have no more time. Don't believe that lie. The Lord will bless you for your commitment and for going. You may not realize that now, but down the road you will be so very thankful. Because remember, The Word will never return empty. You will always get something in return.

He is up to something heavenly, that is so much bigger than you, it is huge.

So as the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center always says...

Commit for life!

Post Script

P.S. I didn't mention, but for real know that everyone would appreciate prayers for the hurricane. Pray that the Lord, in His awesome mighty power, would dwindle this huge storm down to just a rain shower. He is MORE than capable of doing just that. Especially pray the people from Galveston, and the people who had to evacuate. It's hard to leave your home in the dust, not sure of what will be left when you return.

And while your praying, remember to pray for all of those that are dealing with the memory of 9/11 today. I know we all remember it all too well, but pray for the ones that were directly affected. People are hurting today all over. Anniversary's of tragedy's like this, are never easy!

Okay, I'm out for real this time! Gonna go chow down on some yummy home grilled burgers!

Hurrican Ike and Everything Alike

I don't really know what else is like Hurricane Ike, but it rhymed, and I like rhymes. But, I don't like Ike. Another rhyme, yes I know.

Anyway, it's Thursday evening and I am already bored. Oh goodness, it's going to be a long weekend. Especially if we loose power, which will most likely happen.

It has been forever since I've blogged, but, we've been busy around the office and plus we spent last weekend in Galveston! I am SO thankful that our retreat wasn't supposed to be this weekend. We would've been so disappointed, because by now it would have been cancelled.

Speaking of Galveston, did you go?! I did, and had an absolute blast. If you did go, what was your favorite part. Since my family wasn't with me, I am sure the trip was a little different for me, but my favorite part was Schlitterbahn and the band. I've never been to this Schlitterbahn, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time there, and even conquered some of my fears.

Y'all, I rode the 2 drop-straight-down rides, Cliffhanger and Rohr! Every part of my body was shaking as I was walking up the stairs on both rides, but once I actually did the ride, it was an absolute thrill. I don't think I've ever experienced so much of an adrenaline rush. (Well, I'm sure I have, but I like to make things dramatic sometimes!) Anyway, we spent Saturday afternoon there, and even though it took everything out of me, and I was absolutely exhausted, I loved every part of it. Really, I loved every part of the weekend, so I hope that if you went you did, too.

Well girls, at the moment my brain can't think of anything to write about. I am sure I will be back blogging this weekend about random things, because, well frankly, like I said earlier, Ike has already brought boredom to this sweet place.

My brain is also confused, because this huge storm is coming, yet at the moment it is bright and sunny, nice weather, my dad is grilling some burgers, and I am so ashamed to say, but he is also watering the yard as I type. Yes, he is watering. Don't ask, I don't understand.

I guess this is just the calm before the storm. Thank you, Jesus for little brothers who come home from college to keep their older sisters entertained during a hurricane.

Hunker down, sisters! And let me know what you're plans are regarding the hurricane!

Love, love, love!

Coulrophobia

A fear of clowns.

I just self diagnosed myself with coulrophobia because I have an abnormal fear of clowns. I have my whole life. This is nothing new, now I just have a professional name for it.

Wikopedia gave me this thrilling definition...

"Coulrophobia is an abnormal or exaggerated fear of clowns. The term is common, but it does not appear to be used in psychology. [1]It is not uncommon among children, but is also sometimes found in teenagers and adults as well. Sufferers sometimes acquire a fear of clowns after having a bad experience with one personally, or seeing a sinister portrayal of one in the media. A design study carried out by the University of Sheffield found that children are frightened by clown-themed décor in hospitals.[2] This fear can arise from seeing a clown in person, or in pictures. "

You have to know that NONE of these things ever happened to me. I guess I don't like them because I don't understand there purpose. Why would you willingly dress up in huge clothes, where abnormally huge shoes, paint your face white and walk around at events where little children are bound to be entertained by you? I have no answers.

And I have no clue. I never want to be a clown.

And I sure don't like encountering them.

What is something silly you are afraid of? Do you have an odd phobia?

The First Day of School

August 25th.

I thought this day would never come. The very first day of school that I don't have to go to! I don't say this to rub it in your face, but to encourage you.

Girls, I know for some of you going back to school is a drag. I know for some of you, you couldn't be more excited. Personally I really did enjoy school! No, I didn't enjoy the early mornings, but once I was there, it wasn't so bad.

My charge to you is to truly think about what you want this year to look like! Do you want to be someone who blends in with everyone else, or do you want to be different? Bold?

Girls, if you are in Christ Jesus, you have the holy spirit IN you. Do you know what this means? Girls, you have the POWER of Jesus Christ in you to make a difference in your school! To truly be that girl that everyone sees and wants to know what's so different about you. Oh, that Jesus would shine through you!

This doesn't mean you have to be an outcast. It means that you just have the power to love your peers the way that Jesus loves. And ALL of your peers for that matter, not just your favorites.

It means that you have the power to accept anybody and everybody as a friend the way that Jesus did.

It means that you have to the power to encourage your peers the way the Jesus encourages us!

Girls, this is huge!

During my Jr. High and High School years, I definitely didn't do this to it's full potential. Yes, I was the "good girl" and what not, but I definitely didn't act as Jesus would at times. A lot of times I wouldn't even acknowledge that I was a christian around certain people just to that I would be accepted by the cool crowd. Do you want to know how much satisfaction that brought me? NONE!

Absolutely none.

Do you want to know how many of those people I still talk to? NONE! The cool factor doesn't even matter girls. I so wish I knew that back in the day!

Anyway, I am so hoping that right now at exactly 12:00 pm you are having a FABULOUS first day of school.

For some of you, you are entering a brand new school and are scared out of your mind, some of you it's your first time in public school and you have no idea what to think. Some of you are freshman in high school or college and everything new is more than exciting to you. (And we all know your excited about the boys...let's just get honest here!) And some of you are Seniors and you are so ready to get this party started.

Wherever you are, whatever school you are at, I am praying, praying, praying for you!

I always LOVED the first day of school, but was always scared out of my every livin' mind, too.

ENJOY today, and even if you feel alone where you are, know that you are not! God is with you. I know it sounds cheesy, but I so hope it brings you peace of mind.

Love you girls like crazy! Let this school year be an amazing one! Can't wait to hear all about your first day!

That Girl

The other day after I got home from work, I was relaxing on the couch just flipping channels. Normally there is nothing good on when I get home, and really, I'm not much of a TV watcher, but doing this relaxes me sometimes.

Anyway, as I was flipping through I stopped on Entertainment Tonight. Yes, I have to admit, I like this show. Don't judge me. Sometimes I am just intrigued by it.

Anyway, they were doing a story on a recent Hollywood breakup. One that all of y'all know probably all too well! For the sake of not gossiping (even though we don't really know them, it's still gossip!) I am not going to share their names, but it's probably not to hard to guess.

They first interviewed the boy, and he shared his thoughts on the recent breakup, and then they interviewed the girl. Of course, they both said what everyone else would say, that they were okay, and think this is for the better, but then the girl said something that completely caught my attention, and also made my jaw drop.

After announcing that she was okay, the girl proceeded to say, "I just love being the girl that no one can have, but everybody wants!"

What?!

Girls, I seriously didn't know what to say. I mean, she clearly knows she's hot stuff. But then I thought about it. How many of us think this way? Do we know we're "hot stuff?" Do we act like the girl that no one can have, but that everybody wants?

I am so afraid that we do. Whether intentionally or not. I am afraid that by our actions, the way we dress, and the things we say sends a message to the boys we know, our brothers in Christ, that says we are the girl they want, but they just can't have.

It's so sad.

I once heard a mom say to tell those girls that when they wear short shorts, or tight/low cut shirts, that they just don't know what we're doing to the boys.

I beg to differ. I think the reason we do wear those kinds of things, and act certain ways is so that we do get that kind of attention. I know it's hard to swallow, and something I don't say lightly, but I think it's true. Why else would you wear such things? We KNOW what we're doing to boys.

My challenge to you is to really examine what kind of girl you are. Are you one that everyone wants but can't have? Or are you lily among the thorns? Set apart? A girl that is holy because HE is holy? I hope and pray that you are the latter.

Girls, true and lasting satisfaction can only be found in Christ Jesus. He loves you with such a pure and unconditional love. He doesn't love you based on how pretty you are. He doesn't love you based on what you do for Him. He doesn't love you because you love Him. He loves you because you are you. Period.

Be the kind of girl that is so lost in His love that a boy has to truly seek the Lord to find you. Oh, that you would not settle. Find your satisfaction in Him. Other things will only last for a moment, but He will satisfy forever!

I pray this for my life, too!

Love you girls so much! Run after Him today. HE WANTS YOU! Be a GODLY girl, not just a good christian girl.

A Blog Makeover

Hi girls! Do you like our new blog look?!

I absolutely love it! It took me like 10.6 hours to actually decide on one I like because there were so many that were absolutely precious!

So, this is just a shout out and thank you to the Cutest Blog on the Block, because I am pretty sure we now have the cutest blog on the block. :)

Anyway, so sorry I have been so blog absent this week. I have been busy house sitting...and well, watching the Olympics. Currently my favorites are swimming, diving and gymnastics. You can see my eyes glued to the television during any of these competitions. Don't judge me, though. Normally I am not a T.V. guru.

What are your favorite competitions to watch during the Olympics? Let me know!

Well, girls, I'm off to lunch! It's 1:39 and my tummy is growling.

Have a FABULOUS Friday and enjoy your weekend!

Love you all dearly!

Q & A

Here is a typical question to start you off... what is your most memorable embarrassing moment?

Well, I am not one to get embarrassed that often. Normally, if something embarrassing does happen, I just laugh it off and move on with life. That's why I can't really think of anything embarrassing. However, I do have one slightly gross/embarrassing story.

When I was in HCC (Houston Children's Chorus) back in the day...like Jr. High, we used to have Saturday morning rehearsals. Normally before these rehearsals we stopped at a donut shop and picked us up some breakfast. This one particular morning I got 2 donuts and Sunny Delight. I had never had this combination before, normally I just got water. So, I ate my donuts and drank my Sunny D. Later on during rehearsal I started not feeling too well. I mean, it was getting to the point where I could barely stand up. My stomach was turning. But I had no idea what was wrong. At one point we stood up to sing a song, and RIGHT when the song started, on cue, I puked in front of everyone. (That was the first time I had thrown up my whole life! So I was all out of sorts.) I then started to walk out of rehearsal, obviously, and as I was walking out I just kept throwing up. Of course, the minute I got to the actual bathroom, I was done. Needless to say, we called my parents and I left rehearsal early. To this day I still have yet to eat donuts and sunny delight. Donuts alone? Yes. Sunny Delight? Never again.

Little known fact: I have only thrown up twice my whole life. This time, and a time after I went to the dentist. (Nice!) It is actually a fear of mine. I HATE throwing up. Normally if I feel like I need to, I will talk myself out of it! How many of you can beat that?!

Are you married? Do you have any kids??

Nope. Not married. And nope. No kids! However, I do hope one day to be married and have kids. I hope and pray for that everyday! But, like every girl should do, I am waiting on the Lord! No, it's not easy, and no, I am not even dating anybody. But, His timing is perfect so I am trusting that He will provide for me when HE feels it's the right time. Not when I feel is the right time, which would honestly be sooner than later! (And just for the record, I've never actually dated anybody. But, we'll keep that post for a later time!)

What's your favorite song (secular)???

Hmmm. This changes often. Currently, I am enjoying some Colbie Caillat and some Beatles. Out of those artists my favs are Realize and Bubbly from Colbie Caillat and I cannot even begin to tell you a favorite from the Beatles because there are FAR to many to pick from. But, I am also loving Viva la Vida by Coldplay at the moment. It's way catchy. Truly, the list could go on and on. So, I'll stop there. I am a music freak. (But I would hate to leave out James Taylor!) Okay, really stopping.

Do you think your car is quit? hahaha i mean cute!

You girls make me laugh. Yes, I think my car is cute, and yes I am still loving it! Don't lie...you know you are too!

What is your favorite ice cream?

Oh bless. You've opened a whole new can of worms here. This list, along with the music list, could go on and on and on...

So, I will list my favorites (notice the s at the end...this will be a plural answer!)

In no particular order:

Cookies n' Cream by Blue Bell
Mint Chocolate Chip by Blue Bell
Slow Churned French Silk by Dreyer's
Almond Delight by Connie's Custard
Texas Tornado by Connie's Custard

And yes, I know the last two are custard, but it's still ice cream in my book, and no, you cannot buy it at the store, you have to go to Connie's Custard to get that ice cream. It's a good thing I only live across the street from it! And if you've never had Connie's...go...now. Come back and read the post later. It is heavenly.

Kevin's your brother right? Do you have any other siblings?

Yes, Kevyn is my brother. And yes, he spells his name KEVYN, just like I spell my name LINDSEE. And yes, we have an older brother, BRIEN. Who also spells his name weird, too. Don't blame the name spelling on us, though, you can thank my parents. :)

I am the only girl in the middle of two boys and absolutely LOVE it. We actually all love each other, too. I mean yes, we had our days. I'll never forget standing at the top of the stairs screaming Brien's name because he was annoying me so bad. (That's when we were younger. A long time ago. I haven't done that in SO LONG. And it really didn't even happen that often because I'm not one to get mad or annoyed fast...it takes a lot of annoyance to get me to that point!) But, we all get along fabulous now and enjoy each others company! Especially on vacation when we have to entertain ourselves, and entertain ourselves we do. Brien is 26, I am 23 and Kev, our baby is 18 and heading off to college. I love my brothers! And even though I've always wanted a sister, my brothers are enough for me now! Maybe the Lord will bless me with a sister-in-law one day! :)

Well girls, that's all I've got for you! If you have any other questions feel free to ask away.

Hope you all have a fabulous Thursday. I have GOT to get in the shower, because I am one hot mess right now!

Love you girls!

Edouard and Taco Cabana

Girls, did you survive Edouard? I sure hope you did. Yours truly spent the rainy day at the office dreaming about my bed. I mean, really, who doesn't love taking a nap when the rain is beating on your window?! It can by far be some of the best sleep you can get!

Anyway, I got a lot done, but as of right now at 7:48 pm I am currently sitting on my nice comfy couch enjoying this quiet and uneventful evening. After such a crazy schedule lately I am enjoying this down time!

What did you do today to entertain yourself during the hurricane ? Anything exciting? Please tell me you enjoyed a nap on my behalf! :)

Anyway, back to more important things...food.

So, Sunday night after church I was really craving some Taco Cabana. Every now and then I have a hankering for some tortillas and cheese. It is a wonderful meal/snack.

I pulled through the drive thru and ordered my original: A dozen tortillas, 8 oz. of queso, and an 8 oz. cup of fajita chicken. (I get extras because inevitably when I get home the whole family decides they want some, too, so I know better now just to get enough to share the wealth!)

When I pulled up to the window, the man said, "So, why do you order this?

My response: "Well, I love dipping your tortillas in the cheese and every now and then, I want to throw some chicken in, too!"

Man: "Oh, okay. Well, I was just wondering because I've never seen anybody order that. You're the first!"

Y'all, I was shocked. I don't know about you, but during my high school days Taco Cabana (or Taco C as we called it) was THE hang out. We went there all the time. I really don't know why, probably because it was cheap and we ALL ordered tortillas and cheese. Back then, my order wasn't so foreign!

So, what do you order at Taco C? Do y'all even go there anymore? Do you order something that is on the menu? (And for the record, all the stuff I order IS on the menu!)

Well, girls. I'm off to warm up some leftover tortillas and cheese for dinner. Healthy, isn't it!

Love y'all!

P.S. Q&A answer post coming up...so if you have any last minute questions feel free to ask!

Bowling At It's Best

Girls!! So, how did you do at bowling?! Can you believe I WON both of the games I played. Like seriously, I do not bowl. The Lord must have been on my side. :)

I PROMISE to get some Centrifuge pictures up. I am just in the middle of changing computers, so I have pictures here, there and everywhere! But, until then, here are some bowling pictures! Enjoy!

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! I am visiting some of my college friends in Ft. Worth! There's just nothin' like some good ole' girl time.

AND, don't forget to check out the Mexico blog to see what's been going on this week while the high schoolers have been down there. They would sure appreciate your prayers, too!

Love you all!

CentriFUGE

Well, girls! Can you believe that we are already back from camp?

So, how many of you are completely and utterly exhausted like I am? Goodness they kept us busy. But, as busy as they kept us, I hope you had an unbelievable time! I sure did. Walt did such an amazing job teaching us. That man is one gifted speaker and teacher. Don't you agree?

One thing (although I learned MANY things) that really stuck with me was just the fact that he kept stating that decisions don't happen at altars, they happen in hearts. (Yes, of course they can happen at altars, but decisions aren't limited to altars!) Girls, that is SO true. You don't have to be at camp to make any sort of decision for God. You can be at lunch with your family, in your room by yourself, you can be ANYWHERE, the important thing is that it's between you and the Lord. He wants and deserves to have your WHOLE heart. Not just little pieces of it. He wants every part of your being. Just like He says in the parable of the Pearl!

I know that in my life I tend to hold onto the things that I think I can handle, whether it be little or big, and I don't surrender them to Him. This week really challenged me to DAILY hand over every ounce of everything I hold onto!

I hope you were challenged as well!

So, you tell me! I have heard some of your stories from camp, and I have listened to some decisions that were made, but I want to hear more! I want to know how the Lord moved in your life.

Or, just tell me your favorite part about camp! It can be serious or funny!

I know I saw a TON of you laughing ALL THE TIME, so I KNOW there are stories to tell!

My favorite parts of camp were definitely the morning and night sessions. The worship and the teaching were incredible. I could barely wait till those times!

YOUR TURN!

Leave a comment telling me and the other girls either how you were challenged, a decision you made, something you learned, a funny story, or just simply your favorite thing about camp.

Love you girls so very much! And even though I didn't get to see and hang out with you as much as I hoped to, know that I had an absolute BLAST with y'all and it makes me very excited about some upcoming events!

Look for a "Camp in Pictures" post coming soon...(Because you KNOW we took some pictures!)

HUGS,

What Has 4 Eye's But Can't See?

M-I-S-S-I-S-S-I-P-P-I

Who's ready for Centrifuge?!

Girls, are you just so excited? Because I am. David and I just finished up getting things ready here at the office to greet you all with a warm smile Monday morning at 4:30 AM!! Yes, it's early. Yes, we'll be sleepy. But, YES, you can sleep on the bus! And really, what bus ride have you been on that has not been a blast. We'll make this trip as fun as possible!

It is going to be an awesome week and I am so excited to get to spend it with y'all. Especially you girls!

Start praying for you and your friends. I am praying for y'all, too! Expect GREAT things!

And, have your camera's ready...I'll have mine in tow to capture those unforgettable moments! :)

Love you girls! Get some rest this weekend cause we all know that the week coming up will keep us busier than we could ever imagine.

Adios!

P.S. Remember to pack modest swimsuits and clothes! They'll be boys there. (Ew.)

Astros and Friendly Haven

Ladies...

As you all know, we have had a plentiful amount of events this summer. (I say that like this summer is coming to an end! But it's not...so don't fear!) During these events, I have captured some precious moments (remember the characters, anybody?) on my sweet Cannon camera. That camera has blessed me indeed!

Of course, I only have a few on my work computer (I am growing that library slowly) so bear with me.

Here are some pictures from some of our most recent Sr. High events, the Astros game and Friendly Haven VBS! Enjoy!

Boys will be boys...

She has a BRIGHT idea!

I know he's not a girl...but check out my boss and your fearless leader!

In case you were wondering...we were dead cows. :(
And then sheep...

Fun songs for the little ones!

Much love, sweet friends!

Ask Away

Hi, sweet girls!

I do apologize for the lack of activity on the blog lately, but last week was crazy busy with Friendly Haven VBS downtown that the High School peeps did. We did have fun though, and enjoyed some fellowship with some MIGHTY cute lil' ones all week. By the end of the week we were exhausted!

Anyway, I am back and hopefully on a more consistent basis!

With that said, this post is for YOU to ask me anything you want to know about me. It's a little "get to know me" post, if you will. I could list off a list of things you may not know about me, but I'd rather you ask, because it's just more fun that way! Plus, you may think of things that I might not think about.

So, for the next few days, even though I may post more, feel free to leave me a comment with anything you may want to know. It can be ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. All I ask is that you keep it appropriate! In a few days I will compile all of the questions and do a little Q&A post. It can be things like any favorites of mine, friendships, my college experience, high school and Jr. ?High days, family, or anything else you can think of.

I hope this is fun, girls!

Have a marvelous Monday!

Lots of love and many hugs your way!

Friendly Haven VBS

Hi girls!

This is just a "friendly" reminder (no pun intended) that if you are helping out with VBS you need to be at the church by NOON to leave! It will be a fun time had by all...no doubt!

I hope to see all of your beautiful faces at least ONCE this week! Make me proud, girls, make me proud! Really, let's make HIM known and HIM proud!

And remember that HE is your JOY today!

J= Jesus First
O= Others Second
Y= Yourself Last

"I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete." John 15:11

"Be joyful always..." 1 Thessalonians 5:16

I love you,

Lindsee

It's YOUR Turn

Happy Wednesday, Girls!

So, in just one short week I am going to be meeting with your fearless leaders to brainstorm some ideas for what this thing called "The Girls Ministry at Cypress" is going to look like. You know, things they would like to see happen, potential events, yada, yada, yada...

But, as I got to thinking, I realized that as much as they all love you, and as much as they have your best interest at heart...I want to hear from YOU! I mean, what would happen if we planned things that were absolutely B.O.R.I.N.G for you. I am trying to avoid that at all costs!

So, as we head into the end of summer (Gasp! Already?!) and start thinking about the fall, I want YOU to tell me some things you would love to see go on. What events do you think would be fun? Do you have any bible study ideas? Any weekly/monthly gathering ideas? Retreat ideas? I'm just throwing things out there!

Okay, put your thinking caps on and get to commenting!

Can't wait to hear your ideas and share them with the ladies!

Ready, Set, GO...

Lots of love,

Lindsee

Blogging 101

Hi girls!

So, I think I've decided that I am more excited about this blogging thing than anyone, but that's OK. I'll have you all hooked in about a week! :)

I do realize, however, that some of you have never even seen a "blog" like this, so let me give you a quick rundown of some blogging basics.

Basically, it is just an online journal (as I said below) but I am excited to share with you girls many things on here, even what the Lord might be showing me. However, I don't want to be the only one talking on this thing. I would love some feedback. This is where you come in: feel free to post comments whenever you want, and don't feel silly about it! :)

How to post comments:

1) Scroll down to the bottom of the post and you will see a link that says "0 comments" or however many comments there might be. If you have a Google email account, or even a blog of your own you can sign into your own account in the lines provided and leave a comment. When you are done typing your comment, fill out the "Word Verification" box (this prevents spam), and then press "Publish" comment. Your comment should show up immediately to the left, if not, you have not been successful. At this point you should try again. Don't give up!

2) If you DO NOT have a Google account, or a Gmail account, do not fear. Anonymous people can leave comments, too! What you would do is type your comment in the box, then when you are done click on the "anonymous" choice at the bottom. You will also have to fill out the "word verification" box, but that is easy. Once you have filled out the word verification, click on "Publish" and same as above, your comment should show up right away. If not, keep trying. :) Of course, if you choose anonymous, at least be sure to sign your name in your comment so we know who you are! :) That is unless you choose for something to be private, like a prayer request or something!

3) If you are reading this thing, and not commenting, you are officially called a "lurker!" I mean, come on, who wants to be a "lurker!" Let me know you're there! I'd love to "meet" you! :)

4) On the sidebar you will find a list of girls ministry websites, those are links so if you click on them, it will take you to that page.

5) At some point I will start listing some good books for you on the sidebar too. So, check those out.

6) Start getting use to the blog. I will try and notify y'all when I have updated, but the more you check it, the more you will get used to this idea. I am going to try and communicate with you all on this blog as much as possible.

7) If you have any questions about this blog, or anything else for that matter, feel free to email me, which you can find in the "profile" or "about this blog" section on the side. :0)

Alright, I'm out. Wow, this was deep, wasn't it! ;) I PROMISE that not all of my posts will be numbered. It's just that this is all new and I feel like keeping y'all in the know about this blog stuff! :)

Let's have a blast with it...I'm getting so excited!

Fun post coming soon...

Love you all,

Lindsee

Welcome!

Hi girls! Welcome to the new TSMAC girls ministry blog!

I have come to LOVE blogging (which is really just an online journal!) and so I decided to start one for you girls. I have TONS of ideas for this blog so I am so excited!

Just a few ideas for this blog are:

1) A Q&A thing on here at first to get to know me!

2) Devotionals

3) Details about girls ministry events! (Which will hopefully be starting soon!)

4) Pictures from events :)

5) Weekly prayer requests! (You can post anonymously!)

7) Funny Stories

8) Of course some randomness...

9) And much, much more!

Do you have any ideas?!

Really, I am just excited about encouraging you girls on here and hoping and praying that through this blog you would come to love our Jesus more and that we would grow as one big community!

My prayer for each of us on this blog, and the "theme", if you will, is that we would each strive to be a "lily among the thorns." (Solomon 2:2) That we would be set apart, women of God, who have a heart that wants to fall head over heel in love with Jesus. And I am so serious about that, even as cheesy as it may sound. He deserves every ounce of love you have to offer!

Well girls, my time is up today! It is 5:16 p.m. and I am still at the office! Is that legal?! ;)

Just know that I am honored to serve you!

I love you,

Lindsee
