Weekend O' Fun

Hey there, sweet things! I just wanted to remind you of a few things going on this weekend. I will deem it the Weekend O' Fun.

First off, tonight is Jr. High BLAB! Our high school BLAB went great on Monday night, so I am hoping to see most of your precious faces there tonight! And girls, you don't want to miss the chocolate. Always know there will be chocolate at any girl event where I am involved. Chocolate is my love language, sisters. You will always win my heart by bringing me chocolate. I'm not sayin' I need it, but still.

The address for Mrs. Deschamps house is below so just have your mom or dad google it and it should give you pretty clear directions on how to get there.

Secondly, for the high school girls, PLEASE REMEMBER THAT DIVE REGISTRATION ENDS THIS SUNDAY! There is going to be a parent meeting right after church at 12:30, so if you haven't registered yet, you can do so either before than online, or at the meeting. However, please, please, please sign up. Y'all, it is going to be a great retreat. We ALL need to hear about how to "Live Love!" You will not want to miss out.

Lastly, also this Sunday is the Superbowl Party! Woo Hoo! Now, let me be real honest, I'm not one for much football. Football is not my love language. At all. However, next to chocolate, my other love language is being with people. People like you. So if you're thinking that football really isn't your thing, either, come anyway, hang out, eat chocolate and laugh with me and undoubtedly we will have us some Sunday Superbowl Fun! We will have a handout with more details for you on Sunday so be watching for that.

And folks, did I forget to mention the crazy, hilarious commercials? Need I say more?

Love you girls like crazy! Hope to see your faces many times this weekend. And I totally mean that.

BLAB

Girls, get excited for our first ever once a month Girl's Bible Study, BLAB.

Before you get all ancy wondering what exactly it is and what we will be doing, please allow me the privilege to answer some of your questions before you even ask them.

First off, it is only going to be once a month. We all know the craziness that is our schedules, so I want to make this a practical, doable bible study for both you and me. We all need to stay sane!

I am going to try and keep it the last week of every month so that we have a time frame to remember it by. Jr. High and High School will meet on different nights. For right now, High School will meet the last Monday night of every month, and Jr. High will meet the last Friday of every month. Of course, we will switch it up every now and then, too so that the High School girls can meet on a Friday during some months.

The first date set for High School is Monday, January 26th and the first date for Jr. High will be Friday, January 30th. So, go on ahead and mark your calenders now! I don't have an exact place yet, but the time will be from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. However, as months go on, I would love to do the bible study and then just have fun, hang out, watch a movie time with you girls. No worries, though, you will get that information ahead of time.

BLAB really is a negative connotation, meaning to gossip, however, I think we can turn it around and talk about the truth of God's Word. And boy oh boy am I excited! As girls, we all know how much we can talk, so I think this will be good for us!

I plan on leading it most times, but, I would also like to bring in different people to teach us also, because we all know how fun it is to have guests!

So, that's BLAB for you in a nutshell.

This is my personal invitation for you to please come. I would absolutely be so thrilled to see each of your darling faces there. Seriously! And don't think for one minute I don't realize when someone isn't there. Girls, I am a detailed person, I notice when one of you is absent. I promise.

Also, if there is anything specific you want to BLAB about, let me know and I will work something out. I so want this to be a relevant bible study for y'all! I want your hearts and minds to be renewed through His Word.

He is so good, girls. Believe that today. Trust Him. Love Him. He is loving you right back!

Well, I am off to grab some lunch and then spend the rest of my afternoon in a meeting. It is so much fun being a grown up!

A New Year

Happy New Year, sweet girls! How was your New Years? What did you do? Anything exciting that is worth sharing with the rest of us? I went to one of my friends house and rang in the New Year over there with some old college buddies. I had a good time, but boy oh boy was I tired. How sad is that? I promise I am not getting too old to have fun, though.

Anyway, I am so grateful for a new year, a new start, however, I am so grateful that we get a new start every day. Every morning. (Lam.3:22-23) If we didn't get a new start every morning, I would be completely sunk. I need that new start. And Praise the Lord we get it!

With that said, I am not too huge on new years resolutions. I don't know, I guess I know I'll blow it and end up letting myself down, so I just don't even try. I'd rather have a new day resolution every day and try and stick to that, which in my opinion, is much more doable. Sometimes I have to stick to a minute by minute resolution. You know what I mean?

However, this year has been a little different. No, I didn't make up a list of resolutions, but I have committed to do one thing, and that is start memorizing scripture intentionally. I have committed to memorize 24 scriptures this year, which is two a month. Y'all, do you know how easy that is? My mind is a hot mess and the only way to get it under control is to fill it with truth. To meditate on that truth and to believe the truth.

I was challenged by a group of ladies to do it, so I took the challenge. I think it is a wonderful resolution that I can definitely stick to. I don't plan on giving up any time soon. Actually right now I am thoroughly enjoying it. It has been so good for me.

So, here is my challenge to you:

Would you like to join me on the memorization journey? Girls, at your young age you could benefit greatly from this. Truly anybody can benefit from doing such a thing and hiding God's word in your heart, but if you start doing this now and continue doing it throughout life, think about how extremely blessed your sweet little minds would be. They would be flooded with truth. Oh Lord, please flood our minds with your truth!

I am not asking you to memorize two scriptures a month, I am only asking that you would consider memorizing ONE a month with me. Each month I'll share the scriptures I am learning with you, and you can either memorize the same ones as me, or you can pick your own. Totally up to you! However, I am very serious about this. I really want our minds to be bathed in scripture. I am totally committed to it and am asking if you would be committed, also. If so, either send me an email or leave me a comment telling me you want to so I can hold you accountable to it and so that I can hear what scriptures you have chosen to memorize. We can encourage one another through this!

What I have done is I have bought a spiral note card set and am writing the scriptures I am going to memorize in that, and then I am carrying it with me everywhere I go, that way during any down time, I can pull it out and look at it. That is really all you have to do!

The passage I am memorizing right now is Isaiah 26:3-4. It is at the bottom of this post!

So, this is my challenge to you, sweet girls. That we would let the Lord invade our minds and hearts.

I love you all and am so happy to start a fresh, new year with you. It is my absolutely honor to serve you girls! Let's make 2009 a year to remember.
